Can you imagine sleeping on a buffalo robe inside a tipi? After waking up you put on your buckskins and moccasins and go outside to see the sun just beginning to come up. You look at all the white canvas lodges all lined up. There must be 40 of them and they are all beginning to come to life. It's going to be a busy day today, so you better get ready. Guess it's time to get the coffee on and begin cooking breakfast. But, first of all, you have to use your flint n' steel to get a fire going. Maybe today, you'll fry up some bacon, eggs and potatoes. After breakfast, there will be plenty of time to visit with some old friends that are set up down at the other end of camp. After a few cups of coffee with friends, you will have to head back to your camp and get ready for all of the events that you will be taking part in today. Better make sure that your flintlock is all cleaned and ready to go. Remember to check your possibles bag to make sure everything is there and fill your powderhorn, too. Today's shoot is going to be a "novelty shoot", so you could be shooting at just about anything. Could be steel clangers, eggs, charcoal, paintballs or just about anything you can think of. Now that you have your rifle ready for the shoot, you might want to sharpen your hawk and knife for the hawk throw this afternoon. With all this, plus the archery shoot that is taking place after the hawk throw, it should be a pretty good day. Later this afternoon, you'll have to get out your dutch oven and get something on the campfire for the clubs potluck this evening. Just imagine, tables full of food, that was all cooked over an open fire. You won't find better food anywhere. After the potluck, there will be plenty of time to wander around camp and meet up with old and new friends. Spend the rest of the evening around a campfire with friends, while listening to someone a few camps down playing a guitar. The fire is dying down and the stars are getting brighter. I guess the time has come to head back to your lodge and turn in. Tomorrow is going to be another good day at rendezvous.
